Day 3 - Tuesday 9 Aug 05

It seems that I get used to waking up before the alarm set for 7:00am at around 6:45 for shower and getting ready for the day.

I have found it a nice way to start the day to take a picture of the lake now when it is calm and also though the day. I am observing how it changes.

Calls home seem to be quick calling in the morning rather than at night. It is an enhoyable way to start the day to just sit in the lobby before breakfast and converse with anyone and everyone over a cup of tea or coffee (yes Anne some Hot Chocolate so that no one will get hurt ;) - Anne's T-shirt)

I am suprised at how easy it is getting to understand people up and down at the table over breakfast.

Classes are really moving along now and ideas will be discussed this afternoon for our skit.

Lunch and skit preparation take up the time until 2:00 when it is free time - it is HOT today so I spent most of the free time in the water standing and conversing in ASL. I have the sun-burned back to prove that. Ouch.

Supper and evening classes go until 8:00pm

Snack time and telling of deaf stories is a good time...

Bed at 11:45pm

Day 1 -Sunday 7 Aug 05

Like the first time one does anything new and you know it is a camp... one takes two of everything and enough stuff to supply a small army..

Heather was driving and we arrived from Barrie to check in to the Ontario Camp of the Deaf ASL Immersion Camp 2005. The only disappointment was that Sarah was sick and could not come this year. The group of us that were in ASL class 1C at Huronia Hearing Impaired in Barrie were all going to go to camp together.

Things got to a quick start once we arrived and got our name tags and our beads. The bead strings had eight beads on them and if one dared to vocalize then one of these beads would be moved up if one did this 8x then we we told our heads would be shaved ?!?! (No one had it done, I only observed one or 2 people who had one or two beads up).

It was good to see the opening program and skit by our teachers, followed by a break the ice time in the gym playing a few games, followed by a snack...

Off to bed..
